Day 1!

Well today was the day!   I have officially started and finished my first day at the resort!   It has most definitely been an emotional day.  Here is a little back story to start off with where I am going with this post. When we came down for our tour a few weeks ago, they asked if my parents would like to stay and have dinner with me on the night I checked in (tonight), just for them to be sure that I have everything I need and that I got all settled in.   They agreed and we booked them for dinner. Now speed up to today. I was kind of nervous for them to be staying with me.   At first I felt a little embarrassed that at 20 years old that I "need" my parents with me to get situated.  After the day progressed I was sure glad they were here.   As I said before the whole day has been emotional.   All day I have went from excited to a nervous wreck and to and from a few anxiety attacks!  Having them here tonight helped the transition go a lot smoother.   Dad started buddying up to trainer Sharon, who is apparently the Jillian of this resort.   I would have tried at all costs to avoid her but dad kind of broke the ice and now I feel more comfortable going into her classes and not feeling like I am going to die before we even start anything.   Before they left they ate dinner with me and my roommate.  I'll talk about him in a minute.   After dinner my parents did leave so I could go off and spread my wide ass wings haha!  Having them here the whole time really just helped keep me calm and not freak out haha.

The food was AMAZING!   The type of food we eat is classified as "spa" food.   Which obviously means that it is healthy.   However, you would never have known.   Tonights menu was: Chicken Parmesan (breaded and all) with roasted Spaghetti Squash and Green Beans and topped with an arugula parmesan sauce and then for dessert (Yes!  We get dessert every night!) we had a Chocolate Panna Cotta! The Panna Cotta was made using a greek yogurt instead of cream.   It was all presented just as beautifully as you would find in a 5 star restaurant.   I can wait to see what else we get to taste haha!     So your probably thinking, how can I be at a weight loss resort, trying to lose weight, but still eating such amazing food?  The Biggest Loser's whole program is based off of caloric intake and usage.   We eat 3 meals, 2 snacks, and dessert every day, but the whole day is 1500 calories or less.  Plus, then we work out 6 - 7 hours a day!  It can't just be any calories they choose to use, they do have to be healthy.  They aren't going to be serving us fried chicken and say its "healthy" just because it's under the meal calorie limit.

After dinner we all went to orientation.  We all had to get up and and say who we are, where we come from, how long we are here, and why we are doing this.   There were some pretty amazing and inspiring stories and others were really sad, but they were here to change their lives.  During my turn, I pretty much explained myself in a very condensed version of my first post talking about becoming a chef and what not.   Half way through, I started to get really emotional, and I could no longer hold back the tears of joy, excitement, and sorrow.   It's really amazing how supportive a group of people, who you don't even know, can be!   It was truly an amazing experience.  At that moment, I knew that this is really where I am supposed to be, and I am doing exactly what I need to be doing in order to help not only myself, but also my family and friends as well.   After orientation was over an older gentleman came up to me and said "Well Hello Chef!"  I was slightly confused but the man shook my hand and tole me he has been in the industry for 42 years!   He asked if it would be ok if one of the nights before he leaves, if he could sit down and talk to me.   He wants to hear my culinary story.  I for sure want to hear his story as well!!  He wants to talk about how we are going to use this new information and life style in our kitchen lives.   How can we make this work, but still be surrounded by food and temptation all the time!   I'll let you all know how amazing this experience was when it happens!

I do indeed have a roommate.  He is 26 and from Massachusetts!  Full accent and all!  Any of you out there know my cousin Tyson?   Well picture him about 3-4 inches shorter and about 20 - 30 pounds heavier and there you go!  That is my roommate!   He is also going to be here for 4 weeks.  So far we have hit everything off pretty well.   I don't think we should have any problems haha!  At least I hope not!   I had a few people tell me before I left how they would hate to have to room with someone they didn't know.   For me its kind of love/hate.  It doesn't bother me.  I have been to nationals twice for FCCLA and both time I had roommates that I didn't know, but I have made some life long friends!   I stay in contact with most of them on a regular basis.   Having a roommate here is going to be different.   We just aren't going to be sharing a room.  We are going to be sharing this most amazing transformation and experience together.   This stranger I have never met before, is now going to be part of this life changing experience, and I in his.   We will be able to hold each other accountable and to help each other along the way!

We also had our beginning assessments today.   Starting out on this journey, I weight...474 lbs.  154 pounds of that is water.    205 pounds is muscle mass and 268 pounds of that is fat....

It's now time that I get into bed and rest up for our first official day of workout!    Night ya'll!
